How Do I Know If I'm A Professional
Or Non-Professional Investor?
To quote the New York Stock Exchange Application and Agreement for the Privilege of Receiving Last Sale Information and Bond Last Sale Information as a Non-Professional Subscriber:
A non-professional is someone who subscribes in his or her individual
and personal capacity, and neither as a principal, officer, partner,
employee, or agent of any business nor on behalf of any other individual,
and who is neither:
| • | Registered or qualified with the Securities and Exchange Commission,
the Commodities Futures Trading Commission, any state securities
agency, any securities exchange or association, or any commodities
or futures contract market or association, |
| • | Engaged as an investment advisor; as that term is defined in Section
202(a) (11) of the Investment Advisors Act of 1940 (whether registered
r qualified under that act), nor, |
| • | Employed by a bank or other organization exempt from registration
under Federal or state securities laws to perform function that
would require him or her to be so registered or qualified if he
or she were to perform such functions for an organization not so
exempt. Not sure what all that means? Don't worry - we'll help you
determine your non-pro or pro status during the sign-up. |
Warning! Professional investors who subscribe as non-professionals
risk having their real-time rights on any quote system revoked by
the exchanges. If you are a pro, please do not attempt to subscribe
as a non-pro. Non-professionals can sign up electronically over the Internet. Professionals please call our Sales Department at (416) 214-5700
